Ageing of nanostructured aluminum oxyhydroxide, produced by hydrolysis of electroexplosive nanopowder using an alumonitride compound (Al/AlN) in aqueous and air media when simulating the field conditions of adsorbents, was studied by X-ray phase analysis, macroelectrophoresis, thermal desorption of nitrogen, measurement of test eosin dye adsorption. It was established that ageing in aqueous medium is more intense than in the air. The specific surface area of aluminum oxyhydroxide decreases markedly at ageing in tap water due to the higher pH and ionic strength of this water. Increase in ageing time leads to sediment crystallization, decrease in intensity of the pseudoboehmite lines and bayerite phase. Along with crystallization processes, decrease of ζ−potential, specific surface area and eosin adsorbtion takes place that is more remarkable in tap water.
