MAGNETOELECTRIC EFFECT IN THE SILVER AZIDE

In this paper discusses the peculiarities of manifestations of magnetoelectric effect in threaded crystals of silver azide with average dimensions 10×0,1×0,03 mm3 in a constant magnetic field, associated with the properties of edge dislocations: the presence of an electric charge (about 10-16 C). and the magnetic moment (5×10-21 A×m2). It is shown that on the dislocation line the maximum quantity of the atoms having the magnetic moment (allegedly Ag0 - the paramagnetic center), approximately makes 7×102 piece. Measurement of magnetoelectric effect in the crystals of silver azide is carried out by a method of harmonious modulation of a field. The magnetoelectric coefficient defined as the relation of size of intensity of electric field of polarization to the corresponding intensity of an external magnetic field, made 6×10-4 V/cm×Oe. Communication of magnetoelectric effect and reactionary ability of silver azid in a magnetic field is shown.
